Sean D. Brady joined Mahoney, Silverman, and Cross, Ltd., in June of 2001. Sean’s practice focuses on estate planning, probate, business and corporate law, real estate, civil litigation, appellate practice and DUI and traffic matters. Born in Chicago Heights, Illinois in 1970, he later received his bachelor’s degree in History from Eastern Illinois University in 1992. Sean attended law school at the University of Illinois College of Law where he graduated magna cum laude in 1997. He was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1997. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court , Northern District of Illinois. Sean has an attorney rating of BV by Martindale-Hubbel.
Prior to joining the firm, Sean started his legal career at the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he served as an assistant state’s attorney from 1997 to 2001. As an assistant state’s attorney, he conducted numerous jury trials while prosecuting felony drug cases, domestic violence cases and DUI cases.
Sean is a member of the Will County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. As a member of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Traffic Laws and Courts Section Council, Sean has had the opportunity to speak at several continuing education seminars on DUI and traffic issues. Sean has also had several articles published in the Section Council’s newsletter in the areas of DUI and traffic issues.
In addition to various types of litigation matters, Sean has been involved in numerous petitions to disconnect territory from fire protection districts and several election contest matters.
Sean successfully argued before the Third District Appellate Court of Illinois in Joliet Medical Group, Inc. v. Ensminger, 337 Ill. App. 3d 1076, 787 N.E.2d 879 (2003), which resulted in a published opinion on the issue of whether a former employee had violated a covenant not to compete. Sean also successfully argued before the Third District Appellate Court in Paul Stachowicz v. Village of Frankfort, No. 3-04-0425 (2005) on an issue of statutory interpretation regarding whether or not a municipality was obligated to provide lifetime health insurance benefits to a police officer that received a line of duty disability pension.
Sean is currently a member of the Tinley Park-Frankfort Rotary Club, where he served as club president from 2005 to 2006.
